I’m Dominique, though most people just call me Dom, the travel-obsessed human behind Dom-n-Seek, a travel blog where I share practical travel tips, hacks, and stories from my adventures across the world. My passion for travel began during a life-changing road trip from Indiana to Mexico, a journey that opened my eyes to the beauty and diversity across the U.S. and beyond. From witnessing the vast expanse of the Grand Canyon to experiencing the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean, this trip sparked my lifelong fascination with discovering new places, cultures, and hidden gems.
A memorable story? On my honeymoon to Hawaii, I thought I could simply Google my way through paradise—spoiler alert, it didn’t go as planned! From chasing tourist hotspots to hiking to a waterfall without packing essentials (like wipes!), I quickly realized the importance of proper planning. Oh, and the public bathrooms in Hawaii? They’re almost always out of soap and toilet paper, which led to some interesting improvisations. (Pro tip: always pack flushable wipes and hand sanitizer when traveling!) After learning the hard way, I started sharing my travel tips with family and friends, which ultimately inspired me to create this travel blog to help fellow adventurers.
Beyond that, I’ve planned two large family trips to Hawaii, complete with island-hopping itineraries, and have become my family’s go-to travel guide. From my experiences, I’ve learned how important it is to get off the beaten path and explore the hidden treasures of the world rather than spending the entire trip lounging on the beach. My family and I still reminisce about the unforgettable places we’ve discovered together, and I hope to inspire you to explore the world in the same way.
I’m also fortunate enough to combine my passion for travel with my career as an event and wedding planner. I’ve organized everything from a 32-person destination wedding in Kaua’i to a 400-guest wedding in Michigan. One of the highlights of my career was being a part of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, where I had the opportunity to work behind the scenes and meet some incredible people.
When it comes to travel, I consider myself a traveler, not a vacationer. You won’t catch me lounging on the beach for too long—I’d rather be hiking mountains, exploring hidden trails, hitting up a food truck, or diving into local cultures. The world is too vast and beautiful to stay in one place. My passion to explore every corner of the globe drives everything I do, from planning detailed trips years in advance to jumping on last-minute adventures. My goal is to help others travel the world with purpose, discover hidden gems, and experience new cultures to the fullest.
